Panama City offshore fishing report · October 23, 2026
An estimated 250-pound Goliath grouper is a catch worth talking about. That was one of the highlights of our October 23 offshore trip out of Panama City—and the day didn’t end there.
We released the Goliath, then went on to catch 30 vermilion snapper and two limits of red snapper. A memorable release and a strong snapper catch made this a trip worth sharing.
The Goliath was the standout fish of the trip. We estimated it at about 250 pounds and let it go. That weight is an estimate, but there’s no question it was a memorable catch for the crew.
After releasing the grouper, we continued fishing and finished with 30 vermilion snapper and two limits of red snapper. It was a good example of the variety that can make a Gulf fishing trip so rewarding.
Every trip has its own story. This report describes our October 23 catch; it isn’t a guarantee of what another day will bring. Weather, conditions, and the fishing season all help shape the plan.
